European Union competition commissioner Neelie Kroes said mergers in the energy industry may hurt the bloc’s competitiveness, Bloomberg News reported.
“European energy regulators have identified problems which may already be undermining Europe’s competitiveness, and may be made worse by the trend to further consolidation of the sector,” Kroes said at a conference in Fiesole, Italy today.
