EDP-Energias de Portugal SA asked Spain’s Gas Natural SDG SA to consider a merger, Spanish daily El Mundo reported.
Portugal’s economy minister Manuel Pinho met Gas Natural vice chairman Antonio Brufau six days ago in Madrid to discuss the pros and cons of combining the two utilities, the paper said, according to Bloomberg News.
