On the spot market a total of 1.43 million EUA was traded in May. The volume included 233,000 EUA (256,000) on the secondary spot market and 1.2 million EUA from the primary market auction.

European Energy Exchange (EEX) said that the volume of CO2 emission allowances (EUA) rose by 179 percent to 16.76 million tonnes in May, compared with 6.01 million tonnes in the same month last year.
