European Competition Commissioner Mario Monti is expected to approve French power group EDF's acquisition of a 25.01 per cent stake in Germany's Energie Baden-Württemberg, German press reported.
Industry circles expect Monti to give his approval in February, albeit with some possible conditions, the VWD news agency said.
